BEGINNINGS
November 2011
By the third month of school
the 2’s are coming in with smiles, playing with each other and really having
fun! They enjoy their art projects so much that they cannot wait for the
Teachers to get out the materials. We are hearing feedback that they are
sharing with you the adorable songs they are learning. We are also working hard
on following directions, interacting and sharing, skills that are integral to
learning in 2’s. ‘Baby Dayers’ have really come around! They have already
started art projects and they all gather around and await their turns.
Our photographer will be here on Thursday and Friday, November 3 and 4 for group and individual pictures for the 2’s classes. He will come for a group picture only on Wednesday, November 2 for the Baby Day class. Wednesday children are invited to come on Thursday or Friday at 9:00 for individual pictures. You may also bring non-preschool siblings to be photographed with our Beginnings students. If siblings are here at school on the same day, we will photograph them together and separately. Please return your proofs or orders your next class day after they are returned so that we might get them back by Christmas.
Have you paid your $5 party fee or $75 fall supply fee? Please do if you have forgotten.
Now that the children are
wearing jackets in the morning, please put their name in ALL of their outerwear. Also, please double tie their
shoes.
You have already begun
receiving order forms for the Scholastic
Book Club. It is a terrific way to add to your home library or buy gifts
for a great price. If you decide to order, please
make checks (no cash) payable to Scholastic, not preschool. In case the
books you order are gifts to your child, please let us know and we will
discretely get them to you. I know that you are reading, reading, reading as
you know how important that is!
If you want to make sure that
you are updated on recalls from the
Consumer Product Safety Commission, register for e-mail alerts at www.cpsc.gov
as we do at PreSchool.
Please discourage your child
from sitting in the ‘W’ position as
it is hard on their hips and ankles. The
‘W’ position is sitting on their bottom with the knees in front and the feet
pointing out beside their hips. Encourage
sitting with feet crossed and pulled forward in the front like a ‘pretzel’ or
both feet to the same side.
Wow, Thanksgiving is just
around the corner! School will be closed from November 23 through November 27.
We believe that it is not too early to begin instilling in
our PreSchoolers, including Beginnings, a lifelong feeling of caring and sharing. In this spirit, the PreSchool helps the
Church food pantry in feeding 20 East Brainerd families in need, for one week
at Thanksgiving and we ask for your help in this effort. This drive corresponds with the Thanksgiving
Program that the 3’s and 4’s present to their families November 16 and 17. Below, you will find a list of the food
items that are most needed. Please talk
to your child about sharing (not easy to discuss ‘poor’ or unemployed people)
and, if you choose, bring a few canned or nonperishable items to school by Fri,
November 18. The following is a list of
canned or boxed items that are needed for the food pantry.
*canned fruits
*canned vegetables
