As we set our sights toward the fall, consider something new. St. Martin of Tours, after discussion with parishioners who are interested in youth ministry, youth themselves, and their parents alike, has decided to begin a new, shared ministry this fall. This will be in addition to what our parish itself offers youth. We are partnering with three other Episcopal churches – St. Francis of Assisi, St. Peters, and St. Albans. Together we will share a youth minister, who will initially be paid for with a grant. This person, who is yet to be hired, will spend time working in each of our respective parishes, and also offer youth activities shared amongst us. Also, St. Martin youth are invited to participate in ChattYE (Chatty Youth Episcopal), which is a social get together for all Episcopal youth in the Chattanooga area.
This meeting is important:

SHARED YOUTH MINISTRY
St. Martin will host. Lunch will be served. To further develop this idea, parents and youth will meet separately and then together for a plenary session, led by Robert Hartmans. Robert is the priest in charge at St. Albans. If you are a youth, or parent, or just interested in youth ministry and Christian formation in general, you are cordially invited to attend. (The later start time is to allow folks from nearby parishes to transit.)

Haiti: $3670 Donated
“Thank you for being part of our Monitrice program” … Chris Devaney, Executive Director.
The Children’s Nutrition Program (CNP) of Haiti works to “improve the health and development of Haitian children, particularly those suffering from malnutrition, who can in turn raise Haiti from poverty.” Most of CNP’s work is in three areas: children’s nutrition, women’s empowerment, and safe water. The St. Martin’s Laymen sponsored one monitrice this year. Your donations have helped cover the annual salary of one Haitian woman to work to insure the nutrition of mothers and children in the rural commune of Leogane. Thank you. Your continued support is welcome HERE.

Please take a book from the library to read!
Like trees in a forest, books must be culled, a process currently underway in the parish library. Thanks to Father Gary, Father Jim, and Marianne Boer for taking on this summer project. Books that have been removed are on tables in Room 9, the room to the right of the nursery at the end of the hall. You are invited to drop by at your convenience, look at the selection, and take a book or books with you. If you see a book there that you strongly feel needs to be returned to the library, feel free to haul it back over there.
Dare to Dance
