St. Martin of Tours offers more than 30 ministries that nurture worship, form Christians, support individuals, and reach into the community around us to assist in many ways. We welcome you to become involved!

Ministry called outreach

  • Rector’s Discretionary Fund … lay-supported financial resource available for local need
  • Food Pantry … a bag of food for needy folks who drop by
  • Sack Pack Ministry … sack lunches for needy students at East Brainerd Elementary
  • Community Kitchen … adults and EYC youth serve breakfast on select Sunday mornings
  • Our Stewardship … $26,500 marked for outside giving this year
  • Thanksgiving Basket … dinner fixin’s for needy families, a project by EYC (Episcopal Youth Community)

Ministry that nurtures worship

  • Choir … chime, bells, children’s and adults – can’t sing?  Lori will teach you how!
  • Instrumentalists … talented parishioners share their musical gifts during worship
  • Altar Guild … tends the altar area for all services of worship
  • Flower Guild … flowers arranged for worship and other parish occasions
  • Ushers … support worship, passing out bulletins, collecting alms, etc.
  • Youth Lectors … read the second lesson at 10:15 worship
  • Sunday Greeters … offer a warm, heartfelt welcome to newcomers
  • Memorial Garden … return to the ancient tradition of using the churchyard as a place of burial
  • Acolytes … youth age 10 and older learn the responsibility of leadership
  • The Prayer Circle … intercessory prayer ministry

Ministry that supports community

  • Town Hall Meeting … an ongoing conversation about St. Martin of Tours and the community
  • ECW … Episcopal Church Women, do fun stuff and church-as-servant projects
  • Laymen’s Group … fellowship, fun, and servant-church projects for parish and its community
  • Senior Singles … our older members meet monthly following Sunday worship for lunch
  • Lay Weeders … tend the beauty and order of our parish grounds
  • Parish Life … offers fun-filled parish-wide activities usually of the culinary nature
  • Invite-Welcome-Connect … welcomes visitors, helps folks find their home at St. Martin
  • ChattEY … a monthly gathering of all Episcopal youth in Chattanooga

Ministry that forms Christians

  • The Wellness Initiative … ministry offerings that support healthy living
  • Parish Family Wednesdays … dinner, Holy Eucharist, and musical activities appeal to one and all
  • Godly Play … a Montessori-based Sunday school curriculum for ages 3 to 6
  • Tween-Z … a class for this in-between age, kids in Grades 4 through 6
  • EYC … Episcopal Young Churchmen, our youth program for Grades 7 through 12
  • Nursery … childcare for babies through age 4 on Sundays, Wednesdays, and special events
  • EFM … Education for Ministry, a unique, practical way to learn Christianity
  • Senior Thursdays … lunch and bible study for our older parishioners
  • The St. Martins PreSchool … offers a part time school year program for children, ages 1 through 4
  • Cursillo … a weekend retreat for adults at Grace Point, the diocesan campground
  • Happening … a weekend retreat for teens in grades 10-12 at Grace Point, the diocesan campground
  • Parish Forum … a special monthly presentation on topics of interest
  • Adult Book/Bible Study … every Sunday morning after 10 a.m. worship
